El curso se centra en el estudio y análisis de la historia de la facturación de servicios de salud, así como de los diferentes términos utilizados en las instalaciones médicas. Entre los temas que se analizarán se encuentran la estructura de los términos médicos en cuanto a raíces, prefijos y sufijos, los sistemas del cuerpo humano y sus funciones, la descripción de las abreviaturas, símbolos y signos utilizados en los expedientes de los pacientes y las recetas médicas.
